| There are nearly 100 Chinese villages in the mountainous areas of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces in northern Thailand,forming at least one Chinese language school in each village.Chinese language education in the mountainous areas of northern Thailand began when the fleeing remnants of the Kuomintang moved in at the beginning of the liberation period,and has a relatively special tradition and mode of operation,and its development history is relatively independent.According to the development history of Sino-Thai relations,Chinese language education in the mountainous areas of northern Thailand can be divided into five stages: the pioneering development period(1949-1975),the tortuous advance period(1975-1992),the period of regaining vitality(1992-2005),the period of unprecedented prosperity(2005-2020.1),and the period of the new crown epidemic(2020.2-now).The policy and aid changes of the Thai government,Chinese Taiwan,and Chinese mainland have influenced the development of Chinese language education in the mountainous areas of northern Thailand,and there is a certain linkage relationship.In the long-term interaction with multiple subjects,Chinese in the mountainous areas of Northern Thailand are also taking the initiative to adapt,constructing and forming multiple ambiguous identities,and the attitude of the new generation of Northern Thai Chinese toward Chinese language education has changed to some extent,and the instrumental and practical nature of Chinese language education is highlighted.At the same time,the development of Chinese schools in the mountainous areas of Northern Thailand is in difficulty,and after the outbreak of the New Crown epidemic,external assistance has been drastically reduced,and the disadvantages of relying too much on external assistance for Chinese schools in Northern Thailand have been exposed. |
