| The globally raging Covid-19 pandemic has triggered worries and reflections on health,and ushered in a new era in the medical industry.It is imperative to reform the healthcare system to accelerate its development and innovation.This is an English-Chinese translation project report with the source text excerpted from Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 of Care After Covid written by Shantanu Nundy,MD.The book is a best-seller,which is an action plan to reshape health care in the post-pandemic world.The author Shantanu Nundy is a famous healthcare expert.In the book,he puts forward strategies to diversify ways of seeing doctors during the pandemic to improve the existing medical care system from three dimensions,namely,distributed,digitally enabled and decentralized care.This translation project report consists of four parts: project introduction,task description,case analysis and conclusion.Guided by Catford’s translation shifts theory,the report conducts a case study from two aspects: level shifts and category shifts.With specific cases,the translator analyzes and discusses the guiding role of the theory in medical science text translation and illustrates the guidance and application of level shifts and category shifts respectively in this report.Through this translation project,the translator realizes there are much to be done to complete a translation task,from a thorough understanding of the original text and reading plentiful parallel texts to information collection and multi-party review.There are two reasons for the translation task,on the one hand,the selected material can help translator acquire new knowledge in medical field and improve the translation literacy;on the other hand,it is intended to raise public’s attention to the current situation of healthcare and enrich medical science translation in China. |
