Childhood is a critical period for the development of individual physical and mental health,as well as the initial stage of career development.Career adaptability is a kind of psychological resource for individuals in the face of future career transformation and challenges.Adverse childhood experiences will hinder the development of individual career adaptability.How to alleviate this negative impact,promote the development of college students’ career adaptability,so that they can achieve good career development,is the problem that this study wants to solve.Therefore,this study introduces the concept of social support to explore how social support plays a role between adverse childhood experiences and career adaptability.In study 1,social support was divided into general social support and career social support,451 data were obtained through questionnaire survey,and SPSS was used for data analysis to explore the moderating effect of these two types of social support on adverse childhood experiences and career adaptability.The study found that:(1)Adverse childhood experiences and general social support varied significantly among students,with college students from urban areas having more adverse childhood experiences and less social support than those from rural areas.General social support and career social support varied significantly in grade,with junior students receiving significantly higher support than senior students.(2)Adverse childhood experiences have significant negative correlation with general social support,career social support and career adaptability;there are significant positive correlation between general social support,career social support and career adaptability.(3)Adverse childhood experiences negatively predicted career adaptability.(4)Adverse childhood experiences significantly interacted with social support in predicting career adaptability.In the high social support condition,the more adverse childhood experiences,the lower the level of career adaptability,and in the low social support condition,adverse childhood experiences do not predict career adaptability.On the basis of study one,study two will further explore the characteristics and value of high-quality social support,and how individuals use high-quality social support.It is expected to provide suggestions for further improving social support and promoting the development of college students’ career adaptability.Research 2interviewed students with high social support scores,and made qualitative analysis of the interview results.The results showed that:The sources of social support are diverse;The use of social support by individuals can be divided into active use and passive use;High quality social support can promote the future development of individuals and deepen self cognition;At the same time,individuals have higher requirements for high-quality social support.Combining the results of Research I and Research II,this study found that individuals can rebuild their self beliefs,give full play to the regulatory role of social support,eliminate the negative effects of adverse childhood experiences and promote the development of career adaptability by actively or passively using high-quality social support.
