The Italian thinker Giorgio Agamben has made achievements in many academic fields,such as philosophy,political science,linguistics,law,aesthetics,and art criticism,etc.In Agamben’s thought,the concept of art crisis always exists and it plays an important role,then he demonstrates great endeavor to overcome the crisis,using rhythm,potentiality to rebuild aesthetics and art criticism.Therefore,this paper focuses on Agamben’s art crisis theory,traces the idea of modernity related,sorts out the art crisis under his vision,and reveals how Agamben actively responded to the modern art crisis.His approaches,art practices and criticism are thought provoking and of inspiration to people who have interests in these issues.The thesis consists of three chapter: the introduction,the main body and my conclusion.The introductory part describes the necessity and significance of the study of Agamben’s aesthetic thought and art criticism,the related research status at home and abroad,and the general research ideas.The first chapter deals with the crisis of modern art in Agamben’s viewpoints.He argues that the crisis of art does not exist separately,but in a splitting situation,then he analyzed in detail from several different perspectives.First,from the root nature of modern art,the disappearance of creation made the artistic creation was replaced by artificial production.Secondly,the split between poetry and philosophy led to the emergence of a kind of negative criticism,which has a trend towards nihilism;in addition,from the perspective of traditional rupture,the destruction of experience and the failure of Transmission made modern art lost its tradition,and become difficult to understand;Then,the rupture of the original unity of art works leads to such a crisis,modern art is facing a situation,it can be denied at any time and lose its originality;Finally,under the restriction of taste,modern art is in a crisis of dying out,since the authentic connection between the work andaudience was replaced by collective taste.The second chapter mainly discusses the possibilities of Agamben’s artistic rebuild.Agamben proposed a modern art mission based on the crisis,he believes that art should be destructed and take art apart to explore its essence and original structure at first,then the media of Transmission-art noumenon should be reconstructed.Rhythm and pure potentiality also play an significant role.Chapter three explores Agamben’s artistic practices.He demonstrates critical practice on literature and cinema,shows more details of the potential of messianic suspension in the process of artistic return.Agamben’s artistic practices in the crisis of modern art,inspires us to keep away from negative conceptions of art and turns to a new paradigm of thinking,a possibility of pure potentiality,and a new space for art studies. |
