A Report On The Translation Of Nominalization In A Hundred Years History Of The P.&O.(Excerpt) From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

In recent years,under the background of the era of economic globalization,shipping,as the most important means of transportation by sea,has also been rejuvenated,accompanied by fierce competition from major shipping companies in the world.The development history of large shipping companies is of great significance to the current development of shipping companies,shipping industry and society.This translation practice report is based on the translation practice of A Hundred Years History of The P.& O.from Chapter 8 to 11.The author attempts to explore the Chinese translation of nominalization in maritime texts from the perspective of adaptat ion theory,selects the most representative nominalization,and uses adaptation of linguistic structure of Verschueren’s adaptation theory to conduct an inductive analysis of the translation methods of the nominalization.For the difficulties in the translation of the nominalization in the text,he adopts the forward translation method,the transformation method,and the Additions and conventions.By using appropriate translation methods and translation skills,the original text information can be conveyed accurately and effectively.It is hoped that this translation practice report can provide some reference for future translators in the translation strategy of historical documentary texts.
