A Comparative Study On English And Korean Translation Patterns Of The Indigenous Concepts In Zhong Guo Guan Jian Ci

Zhong Guo Guan Jian Ci is a multilingual book jointly compiled by the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration and the China Academy of Translation,which is translated into English,French,Russian,Spanish,Arabic,German,Portuguese,Japanese and Korean.The indigenous concepts of Key Words to Understanding China: Vol.1,Key Words to Understanding China: 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,Key Words to Understanding China: The Belt and Road Initiative,Key Words to Understanding China: Foreign Affairs in the New Era,Key Words to Understanding China: On Governance,(?)are selected to establish a trilingual parallel database.This research aims to conclude the translation patterns of two translations,in order to further deepen the study of the foreign translation of Chinese Indigenous Concepts.It is found that(1)There are six categories of Zhong Guo Guan Jian Ci,namely,indigenous concepts of political,economic,diplomatic,ecological,linguistic and social;(2)The strategy of trans-coding,paraphrasing and synthesization are used in the English translation,while trans-coding,paraphrasing are used in the Korean translation.(3)The translation pattern of the English translation is “trans-coding>paraphrasing> synthesization”(“>” referring to “more than”),while the translation pattern of the Korean translation is “trans-coding > paraphrasing”.In a word,this study further argues that the only feasible strategy in translating politically sensitive texts,as proposed by Yuanjian He(2010),is trans-coding.Also this study enriches the research related to Zhong Guo Guan Jian Ci,which is conducive to spreading the Chinese indigenous concept and culture,and making the world know more about China.
