| Nowadays,scholars are paying more attention to the translation of academic works,while the research of translating English academic works related to Sino-British relations and the sinology still need much more investigation.A good translation should present not only the content,but also reproduce the original style.This report,based on the translation of Forging Romantic China,investigates the stylistic features of the source text from the levels of words,sentences and quotes,and explores how to reproduce the stylistic features in the target text.The reporter adopts the methods of studying the source text to sort out the problems and searching on the Internet.It is found that the academic text includes abundant proper nouns,high frequency of complex structures,many long difficult sentences and multiple quotes.Based on those features,the reporter explores corresponding skills to reproduce the style of source text.From lexical level,the reporter adopts the techniques of referring to established version,back-translation and changing parts of speech;from sentential level,the reporter splits and reorders long and difficult sentences on the basis of understanding,and transforms passive sentences flexibly;from quotes’ level,different strategies are adopted according to the style and characteristics of quotes.For the cited literary texts,the reporter uses the strategy of syntactic linearity;for the cited practical writing,the reporter uses the strategy of recasting. |
