Unconscious information processing(subliminal information)is ubiquitous in people’s life and plays an important role in people’s thinking and behavior.It is the failure to notice it that may have a greater effect on us.Masking priming paradigm is usually used to explore the effects and limits of unconscious information on consciousness.However,most previous studies have used category consistency to explore whether unconscious information can reach the level of subthreshold semantic processing,but ignored the difference in semantic relatedness between prime-target stimuli of the same class.This correlation is mainly reflected by the similarity of semantic features and association strength between the two concepts.However,studies have shown that people’s associative recognition level is dependent on stimulus,and subliminal priming effect is affected by the format of priming/target material and its corresponding relationship(consistent/inconsistent).Therefore,the moderating effect of semantic relatedness on subliminal priming may be different with the change of material format.Therefore,this study used masking priming paradigm and event-related potentials(ERP)technology to explore the role of semantic relatedness in subliminal priming effect and its electrophysiological activity characteristics under different prime-target material formats and their corresponding relations,and further expand the cognition of the nature of subliminal priming effect.The present study included two experiments and forced selection tasks.In both experiments,3×2 subjects were designed to select Chinese words and pictures as priming materials,and control the semantic relatedness between priming and target stimulus(strong relatedness,weak relatedness and no relatedness).Vocabulary target material format)and image semantic classification task(experiment 2: image target material format)recorded in behavioral response,accuracy,eeg data P200 and N400 in change,and calculate the experiment under the condition of strong/weak link to start the amount,to compare the semantic relatedness in different start/target materials under the format of subliminal priming effect difference.After the experiment,the subjects were forced to choose the task,and the response accuracy and discrimination index D ’were measured to investigate the perceptual state of the subjects to the priming stimulus.The results showed that:(1)in experiment 1,the main effect of semantic relatedness and its interaction with priming material format were significant.In picture priming,the strong relatedness is smaller than the response time under weak relatedness and no relatedness.ERP results: The amplitude of N400 in frontal region of strong relatedness was significantly smaller than that of weak relatedness and no relatedness,and the amplitude of N400 and parietal occipital region of word priming was significantly smaller than that of picture priming.(2)In experiment 2,the main effect of semantic relatedness and its interaction with priming material format were significant.In picture priming,the strong relatedness is smaller than the reaction time under weak relatedness and no relatedness.ERP results: The N400 amplitude of strong relatedness in frontal region was significantly smaller than that of weak relatedness and no relatedness,and the P200 amplitude in central frontal region was significantly larger than that of weak relatedness and no relatedness,and the latency of picture priming was significantly smaller than that of word priming.The amplitude of word priming was significantly smaller than that of picture priming in the parietal occipital region P200.(3)Priming quantity analysis results of the two experiments showed that both strong and weak correlated priming quantity were affected by the format of target material,and priming quantity obtained in the lexical target task was larger.However,the amount of weakly correlated priming was also significantly affected by the format of priming material,and the amount of weakly correlated priming obtained in the format of lexical priming was larger.(4)There was no significant difference between the correct rate of forced selection and 50%,and between the index of discrimination d ’and 0.The participants did not perceive the priming stimulus unconsciously.Conclusions :(1)the format of priming material affected the moderating effect of semantic relatedness on subliminal priming effect,and the subliminal picture material had a greater effect.The difference of information processing in the format of priming materials is mainly shown in P200.(2)The format of the target material did not affect the moderating effect of semantic relatedness on subliminal priming,and the lexical target had better subliminal priming effect.However,the process of its influence on semantic relatedness begins to affect the semantic processing of image objects at the early stage of semantic classification judgment.(3)priming--the same material format promotes the speed advantage of subliminal picture priming and the semantic processing advantage of subliminal word priming.
