Adequate sleep is one of the important factors to ensure human physical and mental health and prevent diseases.In recent years,the phenomenon of bedtime procrastination has become more and more serious,that is,"I still can’t go to bed at the scheduled time without external reasons." However,staying up late for a long time will lead to a variety of adverse consequences,such as poor concentration,mood disorders,cognitive impairment,reduced immunity,and cardiovascular diseases.According to "China Sleep Quality and Science Report" issued by China Sleep Research Association,38.2%of people in China have sleep problems,and college students are the high-risk group with the incidence of sleep problems as high as 42.90%.Youth is the hope and future of the country and an important force for national development.Therefore,this study explores the impact of mindfulness on bedtime procrastination in college students,as well as the mediating mechanism of boredom and self-control between them,with the hope of providing reference for preventing and improving bedtime procrastination in college students.This study adopts convenient sampling method,taking students from several universities such as Heilongjiang,Shanxi and Guangdong as subjects.All samples were surveyed online through Questionnaire Star,and 652 valid questionnaires were collected,with an effective rate of 94.77%.The selected questionnaires include:Brief Mindfulness Questionnaire(BMQ),Boredom Proneness Scale-Short Form(BPS-SF),Brief Self-Control Scale(BSCS)and Bedtime Procrastination Scale(BPS).In this study,SPSS26.0 was used for reliability and validity test,descriptive statistics,independent sample T test,analysis of variance and correlation analysis,and model 6 of PROCESS plug-in in SPSS was used for mediation effect test.The results are as follows:(1)The Brief Mindfulness Questionnaire has good reliability and validity,and can be used to measure the mindfulness level of college students.(2)There are significant differences in some demographic variables among college in mindfulness,boredom,self-control and bedtime procrastination.(3)There are pairwise correlations between mindfulness,boredom,self-control and bedtime procrastination.(4)Boredom and self-control play mediating roles between mindfulness and sleep procrastination in college students,respectively.(5)Boredom and self-control have a chain mediating effect between mindfulness and bedtime procrastination.The research results of this paper to some extent enrich the research on bedtime procrastination in China,and point out that colleges and universities should pay attention to the phenomenon of bedtime procrastination among college students.By improving their mindfulness level,reducing their boredom and improving their self-control ability,they can reduce bedtime procrastination,thereby ensuring and improving the physical and mental health of college students. |
