Sleep is a basic human need,and sleep quality profoundly affects individual psychological processes such as the immune system,attention,memory,and emotions,and is closely related to individual health.According to the 2022 China Sleep Research Report,college students are in the age group with a high prevalence of sleep problems,and about 90% of college students report average and poor sleep quality.Focusing on college students’ sleep problems and improving sleep quality is an important way to promote their physical and mental health.The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of mindfulness on the sleep quality of college students and to explore a mindfulness intervention model that is applicable to college students.In Study 1,126 college students in a university were selected and the effects of mindfulness on college students’ sleep quality were investigated using the Child and Adolescent Mindfulness Measure(CAMM),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),and Depression-Anxiety Stress Scale(DASS-21).The results showed that the level of mindfulness was significantly and negatively correlated with negative emotion scores;the level of mindfulness was significantly and negatively correlated with sleep quality index;and negative emotion played a completely mediating role between mindfulness and sleep quality among college students.In Study 2,105 college students were selected and the effect of the mindfulness program on college students’ sleep quality was investigated using an experimental group pretest and post-test design.The results showed that the mindfulness course intervention significantly improved the sleep habits of college students,but the overall improvement in sleep quality was not significant.In Study 3,36 college students were selected,and the effect of the mindfulness group intervention on the sleep quality of college students was investigated by using the experimental control group pre and post test design.The results showed that the mindfulness group assistance intervention model had a significant effect on the sleep quality of college students.The results of this study showed that(1)The level of mindfulness can improve the sleep quality of college students by regulating their negative emotions.(2)The mindfulness group intervention model has a significant effect on the sleep quality of college students.(3)The effect of the mindfulness course intervention model on the sleep quality of college students is still to be studied.
