| People’s subjective well-being is one of the important topics in social science research. At the same time, the existing research shows that the level of individual subjective wellbeing will be affected by many aspects.Parents are the first teachers of children, and the way they bring up their children will have a profound impact on the level of children’s subjective well-being.Based on existing researches at home and abroad, this study analyzed and discussed the influencing factors and mechanism of parental rearing styles on the subjective well-being of college students. At the same time,it included the gender role type and selfesteem level of college students as the intermediate factors related to the two variables to study the relationship between the four.In this study,701 college students from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions of China were surveyed using the Simplified Parenting Style Questionnaire, the Bem Gender Role Inventory, the Rosenberg Self-esteem Inventory and the Subjective well-being Scale as research tools.701 on-line questionnaires were collected. There were 664 valid questionnaires, with an effective rate of 94.7%.Independent sample t test,one-way variance analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, mediation effect test, moderating effect test and other operations in SPSS20.0 were used to process and analyze the data. The results showed that:(1)There are significant differences in some demographic variables of college students’parenting style and self-esteem;(2)There is a significant correlation between college students’ parenting style, gender role,self-esteem and subjective well-being;(3)College students’ parenting style, gender role,self-esteem can significantly predict subjective well-being;(4)Self-esteem partially mediates the relationship between college students’ parenting style and subjective well-being;(5)Gender role moderates the mediating effect of self-esteem on college students’parenting style and subjective well-being;Through the research results,we can find that the parenting style can not only directly affect the subjective well-being of college students, but also indirectly affect the level of subjective well-being through the mediating effect of self-esteem and the moderated mediating effect of gender roles. Therefore, this study suggests that parents should try their best to adopt emotional warmth and appropriate attention to understanding in the process of raising and educating their children. At the same time, college students should intentionally make up for deficiencies or defects on the basis of their understanding of their gender roles, strengthen their self-cognition,improve their self-esteem,and thus improve their subjective well-being. |
