| In the background of "telling the story of China better and making China’s voice heard",Chinese network literature going abroad has become an important part of "digital cultural communication".A good translation of online literature can show the charm of the original,provide a more pleasant reading experience for overseas readers,and contribute to the spread of online literature overseas.As fuzzy rhetoric in online literature easily leads to semantic uncertainty and pragmatic failure,based on the author’s translation of over 40 thousand characters of 100 tasks,the report explores the pragmatic adjustments of fuzzy rhetoric in the text Flipped in Love.Fuzzy rhetoric in this paper is defined as studying language using with fuzzy words or their combination to make expressions vivid,and it can be divided into two types:stable fuzzy rhetoric and temporary fuzzy rhetoric.The functions are improving expressive effect and strengthening readers’ cognition.In terms of pragmatic equivalence,it can also be divided into pragma-linguistic equivalence and socia-pragmatic equivalence.Based on the above theory analysis,the paper concludes the features of the source text(laconic-ism,colloquialism,fuzziness),difficulties encountered(cultural difference,semantic uncertainty),measures adopted(technical support and resources,practical methods and pragmatic adjustments)and quality assurance(self-proofreading and modification,feedback from supervisors and peers).Finally,the paper concludes that to reach pragmatic equivalence in the target texts,the author chooses conversion for fuzzy quantifiers,diction for fuzzy nouns,deverbalization for fuzzy adjectives,literalization for fuzzy verbs,substitution for simile and metaphor,paraphrase for metonymy,omission for hyperbole and clarification for euphemism.Based on the classification of fuzzy rhetoric,this paper summarizes how to deal with the translation of fuzzy rhetoric and solve the problems of semantic uncertainty and poor pragmatic effects.The author hopes that the paper will provide some instructive suggestions to improve pragmatic effects of fuzzy rhetoric in Chinese network literature as well as to research on the relevant topics. |
