Assessment Of University A English Website

With the development of globalization,China’s education is becoming more international,networked,and informatized.Domestic universities pursue international standards to achieve international exchanges.The university news website has become one of the important channels for publicity,exchange and cooperation.Therefore,people pay more and more attention to university news websites,and at the same time,the research on the translation quality of university news websites has gradually infiltrated people’s lives.As a well-known university at home and abroad,University A has always focused on the development of English campus news websites.However,there is no relatively accurate standard for its translation quality assessment(TQA).Because the translators are replaced every year,it is difficult to ensure the improvement of the translation quality.The lack of clear translation standards is not conducive to the selection of translators.The author selects the representative assessment methods in quantitative research,the argument-centered translation quality evaluation model proposed by Malcolm Williams,and compares the source text and the translation text of the English news website of University A.Based on the argument-centered translation quality evaluation model,the author combines with the characteristics of the news website text of University A to improve the evaluation model.The specific practical parameters are discussed.Secondly,the analytic hierarchy process is selected to assign values to the practical parameters.At the same time,the evaluation scores and standards of the entity parameters are determined.Subsequently,the news was randomly selected from the University A news website to evaluate the translation and original text,and finally reached a conclusion in the form of a data template.Finally,the author uses the new model to assess the selected news and gains following conclusion: by evaluating the six articles,the average score of the six articles greatly exceeded the passing score,so the quality of the translation of the news website of the university A was assessed as satisfactory.The operability of the model was also demonstrated,allowing visual numerical conclusions to be drawn and more comprehensive.The model combines the disciplines of translation and operations research,which helps broaden the interdisciplinary study of translation and also helps expand the research and application of translation quality assessment of university news websites.
