Experimental Study On The Accuracy Of IFLYTEK Tingjian’s Translation

The high-speed development of the technological and industrial revolution has brought subversive changes to the translation industry.The rapid development of machine translation today has led to controversies over whether machine translation is better than human translation and whether machine translation can replace humans.To cope with the specific situation of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022,i FLYTEK provided multilingual voice translation portable devices to break the barrier of communication.Therefore,this thesis selects the host script of a gala as the test material,using i FLYTEK Tingjian as a tool to analyze the Chinese-English translation.The author sets up four criteria for the assessment of the application in comparative and diagnostic approaches.The assessment indicators are interpreting fluency,linguistic accuracy,logical coherence and information fidelity.The thesis aims to explore whether this application can serve as an aid for watching foreign TV programs.The author also expects to put forward practical suggestions for relevant machine interpretation products.According to the experiments,the authors found that the machine interpretation still needs to be improved due to the characteristics of spoken Chinese.The specific performances are as follows: First,machines have difficulty in distinguishing slips and verbal redundancy,resulting in disfluent statements.Second,incorrect recognition of terms,homonymous words and punctuation marks leads to linguistic errors.Third,machine interpretation performs badly on sentences with implicit logical relationships.Fourth,there are a certain amount of misunderstandings and omissions.Ultimately,the author raises several proposals on machine interpretation.
