Abstract/Summary:
Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood has been one of the hottest candidates for the Nobel Prize in Literature in recent years.Her works are diverse and novel,and her novel Testimony won the Man Booker Prize again in 2019.As a novelist with a deep sense of mission,her novels often deal with various realistic problems in human society and show her concern about them through exquisite literary conception,which is exactly what the MaddAddam trilogy of fantasy novels does.By constructing an illusory future world,the novel uses various representations of alienation and deformity to show many problems of human survival and development crisis.This paper mainly studies the human existential crisis in Atwood’s MaddAddam trilogy.The main body of this paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter mainly shows the "about" and "how to" these two problems in the future human society in the novel,not only expounds the importance of human nature,but also further illustrate the lost human nature after the human and the human will face after seeking survival crisis of the space,thus the novel to the problems of human survival and development.The second chapter specifically analyzes the root causes of the human existential crisis in the MaddAddam trilogy,which is mainly discussed from two aspects: the excessive pursuit of human desire and the imbalance of social development model in the process of human development.In the third chapter of the novel to show the human existential crisis of resolving methods are analyzed,from formal human identity,to break the extreme human thoughts and desires and reasonable treat human relationship with the "other" in the three aspects of research,to show the author Atwood dissolve the existential crisis,the possibility of thinking about human beings.Through careful analysis and interpretation of the novel text,this paper hopes to excavate the profound ideological connotation and practical significance of Atwood’s MaddAddam trilogy by using a variety of research methods.
