| Teaching assessment can not only promote students’ learning,but also facilitate teachers’ teaching.Exploring the assessment literacy of junior high school English teachers is conducive to strengthening teachers’ awareness of assessment literacy,improving schools’ attention to teachers’ assessment literacy,and enriching research materials in the field of education assessment.Based on the theory of education assessment and teacher professional development,this study takes 118 English teachers from five junior high schools in Nanning city as the research subjects and takes questionnaire and interview as research tools.This study aims to explore the following three questions: 1)What is the overall level of teaching assessment literacy of English teachers in junior high school? 2)What are the affecting factors of teaching assessment literacy of English teachers in junior high school? 3)Are there any differences in teaching assessment literacy among teachers with different genders,years of teaching and educational backgrounds?Combining the questionnaire data that organized and analyzed by SPSS21.0 software with the interview results,the following conclusions can be drawn: 1)The overall level of teaching assessment literacy of English teachers in junior high school is at a high level(M=3.59).As for the three dimensions of assessment literacy,teachers’ assessment attitude is at a medium level(M=3.47)and the teachers hold a relatively positive attitude on teaching assessment.And both teachers’ assessment knowledge(M=3.51)and teachers’ assessment skills(M=3.79)are at a high level.Most teachers are aware of the importance of assessment in the teaching process,and most teachers believe that students are active participants in assessment activities.2)The affecting factors of teaching assessment literacy of English teachers in junior high school are national examination system,students’ parents and the media,school system,and teachers’ assessment knowledge and teaching experience.3)There are significant differences in teaching assessment literacy among teachers with different genders,years of teaching and educational backgrounds.The male teachers’ teaching assessment literacy level is higher than female teachers’.The teaching assessment literacy level of teachers with more than twenty years of teaching is the highest.The teaching assessment literacy level of teachers with a bachelor degree is the highest.Finally,this study puts forward three implications in promoting the development of teaching assessment literacy of English teachers in junior high school: 1)The education department should deepen the reform of the senior high school entrance examination and refine the assessment suggestions in English curriculum standard.2)Schools should optimize the assessment standards and professionalize the content of teaching assessment training.3)Teachers should increase their assessment knowledge and improve their assessment skills. |
