| Assessment is an important part in teaching process.Teachers’ Assessment literacy is the key for whether assessment can play its role in teaching or not.Teachers’ assessment literacy can not only help teachers develop their own professional ability,but also can improve students’ learning efficiency and the overall quality of education.Therefore,this study bases on the developmental assessment theory and constructive learning theory to investigate the status quo of high school English teachers’ assessment literacy.This study strives to deepen the understanding of the assessment literacy of high school English teachers by using a combination of three research methods which include questionnaire survey,classroom observation and interview.This study aims to answer the following two research questions :(1)What is the status quo of the high school English teachers’ assessment literacy in Haikou city?(2)What are the main factors that affect the development of English teachers’ assessment literacy?From the result of this investigation,this study finds out the results as follows:Firstly,most of the teachers think that they have a good command of language assessment literacy,especially in focusing on the reliability and validity of the assessment,but they are not familiar with different kinds of assessment methods.The most common assessment methods they often use are exercises in textbooks,homework and scale standardized tests.Secondly,there are significant differences between high school English teachers’ self-evaluation on assessment literacy and their practical assessing ability.Most teachers still are in lack of relevant assessment knowledge and skills.Their assessment literacy need to be improved.Thirdly,this kind of deficient is influenced by many external and internal factors.The external factors include relevant assessment courses and training experience,student factors and assessing environment.The internal factors include teachers teaching experience and ability,teachers’ self-awareness and initiative of assessment.Based on the above discussion,the author puts forward some suggestions on improving teachers’ assessment literacy to arouse teachers’ attention on their assessment literacy and help them improve their assessment literacy. |
