| Since the beginning of the 20 th century,influenced by the eastward spread of Western learning,Western harmonies,polyphony,orchestration and musical structure have gradually been introduced into China,enabling Chinese composers to use Western composing techniques to create works of Chinese folk music style.These works let Chinese folk music go abroad,and provided audiences around the world with opportunities to understand Chinese music.Australian Chinese composer Yu Jingjun,as an internationally famous composer,is especially good at telling Chinese stories through the multi-vocal musical language and genre form of Western symphonies,skillfully combining Chinese folk music materials with Western composing techniques.Yu Jingjun’s concerto on Chinese Themes for Dizi and Orchestra,composed of folk music materials and played with a symphony orchestra,not only shows a strong Chinese music style,but also adds a modern style and international color.Since the first performance of this work in Melbourne in 2016,every performance has been a great success,highly recognized by the industry,quite valuable research.Some people say that “the national is the world”,but the author believes that only by sublimating the national music,can it go to the world,let the people around the world accept.This paper mainly discusses how Yu Jingjun combined Western composition and orchestration techniques to sublimate the folk music materials in the concerto on Chinese Themes for Dizi and Orchestra,so that this work can successfully go to the world while expressing the spirit and charm of Chinese people.This paper takes concerto on Chinese Themes for Dizi and Orchestra as the research text,and the application of folk music materials in it as the entry point.By analyzing specific musical examples and combining with the author’s interview with Mr.Yu Jingjun,this paper discusses the source of materials,creative characteristics and performance of concerto on Chinese Themes for Dizi and Orchestra,and strives to present the main characteristics and shining points of the work.There are three chapters in this paper: the first chapter mainly describes the source of the material and the musical structure of concerto on Chinese Themes for Dizi and Orchestra,as well as the breakthrough in the form compared with the original material;The second chapter analyzes the specific application of folk music materials in concerto on Chinese Themes for Dizi and Orchestra,and compares the melody of the materials and the melody of bamboo flute.In addition,it also discusses the orchestration characteristics of the symphony orchestra from the aspects of polyphony techniques used in the works,the use of national percussion instruments and the color embellishing of orchestral music,and interprets the generation of “Chinese colors” in the works.The third chapter,from the perspective of performance,expounds the aspects that should be paid attention to in performance,as well as the roles and coping strategies that should be played when bamboo flute and the band cooperate in different paragraphs.Chinese folk music is mostly presented as linear and monophonic melodies.With the study of western music,we are increasingly aware that the multi-vocal expression of western music has the advantages of more information and richer expression.Through the analysis of the musical examples of concerto on Chinese Themes for Dizi and Orchestra,the author finds that the composer Yu Jingjun has selected and processed the material on the basis of fully studying the characteristics of the material,and his application of Chinese folk music is reasonable and ingenious.Through the analysis of the total score of the work and the interview with Mr.Yu Jingjun,the author also realized that Yu Jingjun’s orchestration of the symphony orchestra and the use of national percussion instruments in this work not only retain the appearance and style of folk music materials,but also show the multi-dimensional expression level of the symphony orchestra and the sound changes full of tension,highlighting the flash point and height of concerto on Chinese Themes for Dizi and Orchestra.The author hopes that through the writing of this paper,it can provide some ideas for the flute music creators in "how to use folk music materials to create modern works". |
