A Report On C-E Translation Of Lush Mountains And Lucid Waters In Jingyuan County (Excerpts) From The Perspective Of Explicitation Strategy

The translation material in this report is selected from the tourism text Lush Mountains and Lucid Waters in Jingyuan County.This book introduces the scenic features,historical culture,and geographical environment of Jingyuan County,and its translation will help target language readers understand relevant tourism information.At the same time,the translation of tourism texts is a purpose-oriented communicative activity.Translating the tourism text by focusing on its function can help to improve the readability of the translation.Therefore,under the theoretical framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics,explicitation strategy is adopted in this practice to achieve functional equivalence between the original text and the translated text.The practice report is divided into five parts.The first part is the description of the translation task,which mainly introduces the text and its practical significance.The second part describes the three stages of preparation,translation and revision.The third part is the literature review,which mainly summarizes the domestic and foreign research on the theory of explicitation and the translation of tourism texts.The fourth part is the case study,which analyzes the translation process of the text from the perspective of explicitation strategy based on the theoretical framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics.The fifth part is a summary of the major findings and limitations of this translation practice.It is found in this practice that,under the guidance of the theory of Systemic Functional Linguistics,applying the explicitation strategy in tourism text translation can explain and make the implicit information in the original text explicit by using such translation techniques as amplification,transformation and reconstruction.In this way,the original text and the translated text will be equivalent in terms of ideational meaning,interpersonal meaning,and textual meaning,thus ensuring effective transmission of semantic information and better fulfilling its communicative function of introducing scenic spots and attracting visitors.
