A Study On Gender Awareness In Hirokazu Koreeda's Family-themed Film

Actually,Japanese family films have always been renowned in the world,and have been created a greatly mature path for Japanese family films.In the new century,Hirokazu,as an important standard-bearer of the “new wave of Japanese films”,with his keen insight and expression techniques,injects fresh blood into Japanese family movies.At the same time,it provides a new perspective for the discussion of female survival in the family.Based on feminism theory,this paper studies eight family-themed films created by Hirokazu so far,including Magic Light,Nobody Knows,Still Walking,I Wish,Like Father Like Son,Diary of Haijie,Deeper Than the Sea,Shoplifters.This paper analyzes the concern for women by the director,and summarize the expression of gender consciousness in his family-themed films.This paper including following parts.In the introduction,the author explains the reason and significance of the topic selection,including status,methods and so on.The main part of the paper is divided into three parts.Firstly,in other words,the first chapter of the paper,which mainly presents and discusses the background of the director,and the general situation of gender consciousness of Hirokazu in their family films.Secondly,this part,includes the second chapter and the third chapter,which integrally analyzes the gender consciousness of Hirokazu and the family-themed films.It explores the deconstruction and construction of the gender consciousness in his family-themed films from the perspectives of content presentation and writing strategies,how to answer the questions of expressing women after the disappearance of men in the family,how to affirm the value of women.And how to express the concern for women through the lens,this kind of issues in detail text interpretation.The three part of the paper is the fourth chapter,which explores the reflection and significance of gender consciousness in Hirokazu’s family films,analyzes the limitations of expressing women from the male perspective,and the realistic significance and value of gender consciousness conveyed in his films.Through summing up the gender consciousness in Hirokazu’s family films,the author hopes to make a breakthrough in the study of his films and feminist studies,and also hopes to bring some new inspirations for the creation of domestic family-themed films in the future.
