| "Watching Snow"is a piece of Chinese zither music created by composer Wu Yan in June 2018 at the request of the Shaanxi Qinzheng Society for the" 2018 Shaanxi Zither Music Festival·New Works Concert ".Zheng is one of the most representative traditional ethnic instrumental music in China. It has a wide range, transparent and bright timbre, and beautiful melody, which is deeply loved by the people. With the development of Zheng culture, many composers are more inclined to express the cultural connotations of their works, emphasizing the combination of Chinese culture and musical instruments. This work is based on ancient poetry and lyrics, and the composer takes it from the Tang Dynasty’s Zuyong’s "Looking at the Remaining Snow in Zhongnan":"The Yinling Mountains in Zhongnan are beautiful, with snow floating in the clouds. The forest shows the afterglow, and the city becomes colder at dusk." The music aims to express the towering and magnificent momentum of Zhongnan Mountain, where snow and mountains blend into one,as well as the infinite admiration for the splendid history and culture nurtured by the Qinling Mountains.Although this work is also based on Shaanxi music elements, the style is delicate and lyrical in excitement. However,it differs from other Qin Zheng pieces in terms of mode and creative techniques, and is a unique lyrical work that borrows scenery, worthy of in-depth analysis and research. This article takes the work as the research object. After collecting information, reading literature, and consulting relevant knowledge,we first understand the composer and the creative background of the work, and have a deeper understanding of the work;Secondly,a detailed analysis is conducted on the musical essence of the work, including modes, musical forms, rhythm, and other aspects. Finally, from the perspective of performance characteristics,it is analyzed how to express the artistic conception of the work more clearly through techniques and emotional processing.Through reflection and summary, further analyze the cultural connotations and some details of the work, and summarize that the performer not only needs to complete the content of the score, but also needs to have two-way emotional resonance with the composer,in order to make the work more soulful.I hope to propose some new insights and explore the work from a new perspective through the ontology analysis of the music and my own practical experience in performance, providing some reference for more performers about this work. |
