Study On The Modeling And Composition Of Shi Tao’s Landscape Painting

Shi Tao was a famous landscape painter at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty.In the painting world of the early Qing Dynasty,where the orthodox thoughts of restoring and mimicry the ancient were dominant,Shi Tao went against the trend and made bold innovations and breakthroughs in painting methods.His landscape painting modeling and composition methods are not bound by law,not by tradition,in the creation of the emotional expression and personality style;At the same time,he also melted the previous generation of masters’ creative experience and techniques as his own,improved his artistic expression,laid and established his own style.Shi Tao landscape painting has a very distinct personality and flavor of The Times in terms of composition and modeling.This paper explores the composition form and modeling method of Shi Tao landscape painting in order to have a deeper understanding of the creativity of Shi Tao’s art.On the basis of previous studies on Shi Tao’s achievements,this paper tries to put forward some new ideas and perspectives.Through the combination of theory and practice,this paper discusses the modeling and composition methods of Shi Tao’s landscape paintings and their significance from the perspectives of expression forms and aesthetic characteristics.First of all,this paper briefly expounds the breakthrough of Shi Tao’s landscape painting form and composition to the tradition and its influence on the Qing Dynasty and modern times.Secondly,it discusses in detail the specific forms of expression of Shi Tao’s landscape painting in terms of modeling and composition.In the aspect of modeling,it mainly includes the unique application of different forms of "point" and "line",the unique representation of the image tree and stone,water and cloud,and the combination of the image.Composition is mainly to its truncated type,three fold two sections,a single peak and flat head four composition styles are summarized.Finally,it analyzes the aesthetic characteristics of the form beauty,the space beauty and the artistic conception beauty in the modeling and composition of Shi Tao landscape painting.Shi Tao’s landscape paintings either focus on "change" or pay attention to "strange".This paper explores the uniqueness of Shi Tao’s painting from different angles and directions,which not only supplements and enriches the study of Shi Tao,but also actively promotes the study of Chinese landscape painting techniques.
