Since its founding, the United States has been known as the "Biblical Republic".Religion plays an extremely important role in American society. It not only shapes American values, but also serves as the ideological source guiding the principles of American foreign exchanges. On the basis of reading a large number of documents, the author has conducted an in-depth analysis of the religious origins of American society. From the formation of American colonies to the founding of the United States in 1775,whether it is the theory of just war during the colonial war,the diplomatic principles of isolationism pursued by the United States after the founding of the country,or the diplomatic principles of interventionism after the 20th century,we can see the shadow of religion. In fact, since the first Pilgrims landed in North America,Americans have regarded themselves as "the elect of God" and have been committed to building a "mountain city" that can serve as a model for humanity.Since the 20th century, the United States has been striving to build a world order that conforms to American values and widely spreads American values around the world. At the Paris Peace Conference after the First World War,American President Wilson proposed a new world order based on American values.Since then, the establishment of a new world system led by the United States and the pursuit of the United States’ leadership in the international community-the World Police,Has become the guiding principle for the US government’s foreign exchanges. The Bush administration also inherited this traditional diplomatic principle. However, the occurrence of the "September 11th Incident" led the Bush administration to make adjustments to its foreign policy. However, with the introduction of the "Bush Doctrine",the core of the Bush administration’s security strategy in foreign relations remains to eliminate all potential threats through the main means of American political and military power, thereby maintaining the hegemonic position of the United States and establishing a world consistent with American values. The background of the birth of "Bush Doctrine" is the proliferation of terrorism. Its "Pre-Emptive" means and Unilateralism behavior have religious origins. At the same time, the foreign policy of the Bush administration has also had an important impact on American diplomacy and even the world order, which is worthy of in-depth research. To sum up,this article adopts the literature research method and case analysis method to analyze and study the relationship between American foreign policy and religion,in order to gain a deeper understanding of the internal logic and underlying reasons behind the formation of American foreign policy,so that we can understand American foreign policy and foreign relations more broadly from a non secularized perspective. This article selects the Bush administration as a case study, and analyzes the religious concepts contained in the Bush administration’s foreign policy to explore the role of religion in its foreign policy.
