An Exploration Of Wang Jianzhong’s Vocal Works "Five Songs Of Li Qingzhao"

Five Lyrics by Li Qingzhao is a vocal suite composed in 1981 by Wang Jianzhong,a renowned composer,pianist and music educator,based on five lyrics by Li Qingzhao.The poet’s poems,such as "Ru Meng Ling" and "Drunken Flower Yin",reflect the poet’s inner sorrow and longing after parting from her husband,with a light sadness.In the lyrics,the lyricist vividly expresses the inner changes of emotions at different times through metaphor,rising,simile and prose,and has a rich and delicate inner monologue.The composer’s intention is to set the mood of the poem through the tonal treatment,the coordination and variation of the piano and the vocals,and the fusion of Chinese and Western music composition techniques to highlight its Chinese charm and individuality.The aim of this paper is to analyse the compositional and vocal techniques of the two works,with the aim of grasping their stylistic characteristics as a whole,and to provide lessons for subsequent researchers.This paper consists of three parts: the introduction,the body and the conclusion.The introductory section consists of three parts: the origin of the topic,the current situation of the study,and the research methodology.The main text is divided into three sections: the first section introduces the life and content of the author Li Qingzhao and the background of the composition of the suite;the second section analyses the two works "Ru Meng Ling" and "Drunken Flower Yin" in terms of the style,harmony and tonal characteristics;the third section analyses the two works in terms of the context of the poems,including the expression of emotions in the language,the biting and exhaling of words and the use of breath in the cadences of the American singing style.The concluding remarks are a summary of the author’s learning reflections and singing experience.
