Abstract/Summary:
In the early 1930 s,there was a social phenomenon of widespread economic bankruptcy in urban and rural China.This phenomenon has aroused the attention of novelists,who began to write with economic bankruptcy as the theme,and some writers turned their eyes to the countryside,and the theme of rural bankruptcy novels came into being.This paper mainly selects the representative rural bankruptcy novels of this period as the research object.Based on the analysis of the context of The Times that led to the rural economic bankruptcy,this paper explores the expression content,image types and artistic presentation of the rural bankruptcy novels by means of close reading of the text,and summarizes the uniqueness of the novels different from the previous rural novels.This uniqueness is mainly reflected in the deepening and expanding of rural themes and the breakthrough and enrichment of left-wing literature.Moreover,the consciousness of literary realistic concern contained in the novel also reflects the writer’s inheritance and development of the fine tradition of local literature in the1920 s.These thoughts together constitute the unique significance and literary value of the rural bankruptcy novels in the history of modern Chinese literature in the 1930 s.This paper consists of seven parts:The first part is the introduction,first defines the research scope of this paper,and then focuses on sorting out the domestic research status of rural bankruptcy novels in the 1930 s,and puts forward the research significance,innovation points and research methods of this paper.The second part defines the concept of rural bankruptcy novels in the 1930 s,and analyzes the context of The Times leading to rural economic bankruptcy,including the negative impact of the outbreak of the world economic crisis on China’s economy in 1929,imperialist military and economic aggression on China,and the internal reaction of modern Chinese society.The third part,through the close reading of the text,analyzes the main expression content of the 1930 s rural bankruptcy novels,mainly from the three aspects of the depressed rural economy,distorted and alienated human nature and deep local complex,to show the life conditions and character changes of farmers after the rural economic bankruptcy,and explore the unique local charm in the specific novel text.The fourth part analyzes the character types of the rural bankruptcy novels in the 1930 s,which mainly includes three categories: the old farmer image,the young farmer image and the landlord and squire image.According to their different characters and destinies,they can be specifically divided into: The backward and ignorant "old household pivot",the growing and expanding "new hope",the dead-end "blind flow child",the weak and indifferent "grinding ghost",and the greedy "Zhou-pick-skin" and the declining "hundred-legged worm" two types of landlord and squire images.The fifth part analyzes the artistic presentation of rural bankruptcy novels in the 1930 s,including four aspects: clear narrative mode,"sketch" novel style,delicate and detailed psychological description and vivid and simple language style,and analyzes their presentation ways in the text.The sixth part focuses on the literary significance of the rural bankruptcy novels in the1930 s and probes into the literary value of the novels.It includes the deepening and expansion of rural themes,the inheritance and development of literary concern,and the breakthrough and enrichment of left-wing literature.The seventh part of the conclusion on the basis of the previous discussion,further to the1930 s rural bankruptcy novels made evaluation and summary.
