The twelve chapters,also known as the twelve emblems,are the embroidered ornaments on the dresses of ancient emperors and high-ranking officials,which are the sun,moon,star,mountain,dragon,Hua Chong,Zong Yi,Zao,Huo,Fen Mi,Fu and Fu.As an artistic expression with both politics and aesthetics,the twelve chapters from ancient times is the carrier of human wisdom.The Western Zhou Dynasty was a formative period in which the Twelve Chapters was attached to its political,ethical and aesthetic significance as a ritual instrument.As the aesthetic presentation of the physical form manifestation and spiritual meaning construction of the social ethical concept of the Western Zhou Dynasty,the twelve chapters has its own unique aesthetic significance.Taking the 12 seals of the Western Zhou Dynasty as the research object,this paper attempts to explore and excavate the aesthetic value and aesthetic significance behind the twelve chapters from the perspective of aesthetics,and to spy on the aesthetic cultural characteristics and philosophical thought system in the context of the specific era of the Western Zhou Dynasty.The first chapter begins with a historical trace of the twelve chapters.From worship to costume manifestation,the twelve chapters germinated with the development of the primitive thinking and primitive consciousness of the ancestors.Through retrospective and discussion,it is clear that it has become the cornerstone of subsequent research as an artistic expression.Chapter 2 clarifies that the twelve chapters are a kind of art type,which is the crystallization produced by the joint action of the ancient Chinese bionic art philosophy and the germination of aesthetic consciousness,and explains the shape of the top and bottom of the crown uniform and the connotation of the twelve chapters.The third chapter mainly explains the theological view of the Mandate of Heaven embodied in the twelve chapters of the Western Zhou Dynasty and the rationality of constructing its "combination of elephants and suits" as a political order,and its political aesthetic meaning shines with the light of ancient Chinese political thought.Chapter 4 mainly explains the way of thinking of the twelve emblems of the crown service by "taking images and analogies",linking the twelve emblems with the virtues of the Son of Heaven with the help of speculation,association and symbolism,and explaining the value concept of "truth" and the social ethics of "goodness" conveyed in an invisible way,highlighting the "beauty" of its unity of beauty and goodness.The fifth chapter focuses on the "meaningful form" of the twelve crests of the crown costume,which highlights the natural order of "heaven and earth",the etiquette system in color,and the integration of formal and natural factors in the production process.At the same time,as a plastic art,it also contains a freehand character,and in terms of artistic aesthetics,it shows an aesthetic style that mixes figuration and abstraction,rationality and mystery,and lyricism and grotesqueness,showing the "beauty" of plastic art with the unique pattern of the twelve chapters of the Western Zhou Dynasty.As a pattern embroidered on the crown uniform,the twelve chapters of the Western Zhou Dynasty are not only the representatives of theocracy,but also the ruler of ethics and morality,and also nurture the ancient Chinese aesthetic spirit.
