Since the 21st century,China’s economic development and internet technology has gained remarkable achievements worldwide,allowing China to take the lead in many fields in the world.The Chinese culture,by maintaining its traditions while advancing with the times,has enabled the Chinese nation to maintain firm national confidence.And the speeches of Chinese leaders on literature and art often arouse widespread concerns and heated discussions in the international community.These speeches not only cover new thoughts,viewpoints,and judgments,but also bring together the mission and current problems of the development of the Party and the country in the new historical conditions.At the same time,they also showcase the governance philosophy and strategy of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core.Accurately translating such academic monographs on political theory can better guide the international community to fully and objectively understand contemporary China’s development methods,concepts,and paths about literature and art,thus to promote publicity and China’s image.This report is based on the Chinese-English translation of the Chapter Ⅶ of The Realization of the Historical Mission of Literature and Art in Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.The book has conducted an in-depth study of the series of important speeches on literary and artistic issues by General Secretary Xi Jinping since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.Chapter Seven,from the perspective of the functional theory of literature and art,proposes to deepen the reform of online literature and art,and condense the positive energy of the internet.The report has four chapters.The first chapter is a description of the task,which represents the background of the task and the features of the source text.The second chapter represents the translation processes,including the translation strategies and methods adopted to solve difficulties.The third chapter discusses the problems and solutions.The fourth chapter is the case analysis in which the author analyses translation cases on the lexical,syntactical and rhetorical levels in hope of contributing to English translations of Chinese political academic works.
