Harbin Grand Theater Tour Accompanying Interpretation Practice Repor

This is a report of escort interpretation practice that the author(also the interpreter)completed at Harbin Grand Theater.The report consists of four parts: description of interpretation task,introduction of interpretation process,case analysis,and summary of interpretation practice,focusing on the three following aspects--omission,misinterpretation,errors caused by non-linguistic factors,etc.The author cites typical cases from the practice,lists the problems and difficulties the author encountered in the practice and analyzes the causes of the problems and difficulties,and attempts to solve them by using relevant methods and strategies.Complementary translation and visualized memory is adopted for omission and misinterpretation of proper nouns,substantive feature translation method is adopted for misinterpretation of Chinese cuisine names,meaning translation method and incremental translation method are adopted for misinterpretation caused by cross-cultural communication barriers,and relevant strategies are also proposed for problems caused by non-linguistic factors,such as improving information processing skills in the listening and recognition stage and grasping key words and main information.With the help of these methods,the source language information can be effectively conveyed and the communication can be better promoted.Summarizing the experience of translation practice,the author hopes that his report can provide lessons for escort interpretation programs and also provide reference for beginners in interpreting.
