While the art of pipa has a long history and flourished,Wuxi School,Pinghu School,Pudong School,Chongming School,Wang School(Shanghai School)and other major modern and contemporary schools have gradually separated from the Southern School of pipa,forming their own distinctive performance styles and constantly introducing new ones,with unique techniques.Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China,there have been a number of pipa performers who have made outstanding contributions to the inheritance and innovation of music.As one of the classical works of the traditional martial arts of Pipa,The Overlord Dismounts the Armor has a powerful and majestic style.It mainly displays the massive war scenes and has a narrative realism.It emphasizes the use of the left and right hand techniques that can’t be more flowery.Common techniques include "sweeping","brushing","full wheel",and "phoenix nodding".Many versions have been handed down to this day.Among them,the playing style of Wang School is very strict,without complex paragraphs.Meanwhile,a large number of basic and commonly used techniques for pipa’s left and right hand including <Bawang xiejia>,which is of typical significance for the training of basic skills.Therefore,the author selected the contemporary widely circulated solo version,Wang School Li Tingsong’s performance score,as the research object.The author focus on the role of basic skills training of the pipa and providing a theoretical basis for the performance of the pipa.By analyzing the playing techniques of Wang School’s <Bawang xiejia>,the author can provide some valuable references for learners of this work. |
