Gu Changwei,who transitioned from a photographer to a director,has directed the highly acclaimed "Peacock","Love for Life" and "Life Show" since 2005.These three films are known as the "Trilogy of the Times" in the industry,and have won multiple international awards,causing significant reverberations in the film and television industry.Director Gu Changwei presents the life of the common people with a delicate perspective,and expresses the theme and emotions of the films to the fullest extent with unique artistic techniques and color applications.This paper focuses on Gu Changwei’s three films("Peacock","Love for Life" and "Life Show")as the main objects of study,and is divided into four chapters,excluding the introduction and conclusion.Chapter One mainly explains the concept and background of the narrative of the lower class,summarizes the common manifestations of the underlying narrative in domestic film works,and elaborates on Gu Changwei’s artistic style in his films.Chapter Two provides a detailed interpretation of the portrayal of lower-class characters in Gu Changwei’s "Trilogy of the Times".Chapter Three analyzes the plot structure in the lower-class narrative of Gu Changwei’s films from three angles: structure and perspective.Chapter Four examines the audio-visual language used in the lower-class narrative of Gu Changwei’s films,dividing it into two aspects: visual language and sound language.In the conclusion section,Gu Changwei’s film creation is placed in the context of contemporary culture,examining its unique artistic value and significance.
