As one of the most important film genres in China,War Films have gone through more than 70 years of hard work with the booming New China,during which a large number of excellent works have also been produced.After entering the new century,with the rapid development of China’s economy and the continuous promotion of the reform of film industrialization,the growing demand for mass culture consumption of the audience has led to the type reconstruction of war films.After more than 20 years of continuous development,war films have successfully adapted to the commercialized film market,producing a large number of excellent works,such as"Assembly" "The Taking of Tiger Mountain" "Wolf Warriors" "Operation Red Sea" "The Eight Hundred" "Battle of Chosin Reservior",and so on.This paper takes the war films since the new century as the research object,provides background support for the reconstruction of the types of war films in the new century by combing and summarizing the narrative strategies and aesthetic styles of war films before the new century,and discusses the evolution of the types of war films in the new century from the aspects of the era context,narrative themes,narrative strategies,character images,audio-visual styles,etc.,in order to provide some reference suggestions for the development of war films in the future.In addition to the introduction,this paper is mainly divided into four parts:The first chapter discusses the reconstruction background and development trend of Chinese war films in the new century,and establishes the basis of its type reconstruction mainly from the aspects of the historical retrospect of war films,the industrialization reform of films in the new century,the awakening of type awareness,and the development trend of war films in the new century;The second chapter focuses on the innovation in the narrative of Chinese war films in the new century,including the development of narrative themes,the diversification of narrative perspectives,the diversification of narrative structures,and the integration of various types of elements;The third chapter mainly discusses the new changes in the characterization of Chinese war films in the new century,which are mainly divided into the individual hero image and the group hero image,the original villain image,the embarrassing female soldier image and the female civilian image;The fourth chapter analyzes the upgrading of the audio-visual style of Chinese War films in the new century,discusses the spectacle of the war field from the surreal war landscape and the physical landscape of violence aesthetics,and constructs the national image from the ritual sacrifice in the historical dimension and the signifier in the contemporary dimension.
