This is an English-Chinese interpreting practice report on the U.S Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on the theme of ‘The post-Roe America: The Legal Consequences of the Dobbs Decision.’ Based on the speech of the chairman and the witnesses, this report analyzes the various problems that may be encountered during the practice, and discusses the corresponding interpreting strategies. In reviewing the interpreting practice, the report describes the three stages of pre-interpreting preparation, interpreting process and post-interpreting evaluation, and selects typical cases to carry out the analysis. The problems encountered are redundancy, obscurity and false or insufficient interpreting.Analysis reveals several conclusions: Adequate preparation ensures the smoothness and fluency of the interpreting practice.Division and re-organization of sense groups and omission or re-classification help removes redundancy.Paraphrasing and supplementation cope with obscurity.Additionally,to deal with false or insufficient interpreting, one way is to be fuzzy in expression, which refers to concluding what has been omitted or describing it from other aspects, another way is to reason based on surrounding contexts to make less mistakes while retaining fluency.
