| Anthropology started late in China, but it is a popular subject with wide development prospects. The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity(Chapter 3)is taken as the original text of English-Chinese translation practice in this translation practice report. The third chapter mainly introduces the history of human development in Europe in the 19 th century in chronological order. In translation practice, the translator used some translation methods, such as choosing word meaning according to the background, conversion, and transforming abstract and concrete.Anthropology involves a wide range of contents, and the meanings of some words in anthropological texts are quite different from the common meanings. The translator need to combine the background knowledge of related disciplines with the reference to professional dictionaries, analyze the context of the original text, and choose the meaning accurately. The text involves long sentences, complex sentences, parenthetical sentences, attributive clauses, etc.,and the sentence structure is relatively rich.At the syntactic level,it mainly starts from the perspective of translating long sentences, and adopts translation methods such as recombination method and split method. The translator hopes to attract more people to pay attention to the translation of anthropological texts through the translation practice here, and make a modest contribution to others’ future translation work. |
