| The Paradox of Gender Equality: How American Women’s Groups Gained and Lost Their Public Voice is the source text of this translation practice report,which is published by University of Michigan press and written by Kristin A.Goss,a professor of Stanford University.Focusing on the social issue of women’s public status,this work explores the process from gaining political rights and giving voice to the public to losing their political orientation,opening up a new perspective on women’s rights.The translator analyzes the translation from three perspectives: words,sentences,and the discourse.At the lexical level,semantic extension,and addition are adopted;At the syntactic level,the translator mainly researches the translation of parentheses and adopt inversion to reorganize the sentences order;At the discourse level,the translator analyzes the translation of reference and conjunction.Through this translation practice,the translator hopes to expand the theoretical and practical study of the translation of sociological texts through this translation practices,and draw the attention and research of the society to women’s issues. |
