In history, the question of freedom has a long history, and brilliant discussions on freedom by predecessors have emerged endlessly.Feng Qi formed his unique philosophical view of freedom based on his predecessors’ understanding of freedom. How to understand Feng Qi’s view of freedom and the position of his view of freedom in the system of intellectual philosophy is particularly important. This article elaborates Feng Qi’s concept of freedom through four parts. The first part traces the ideal origin of Feng Qi’s concept of freedom.By understanding the era in which Feng Qi lived,we understand that under the influence of the era,he has a very broad philosophical perspective. Therefore, his concept of freedom not only has the theoretical background of Marxist philosophy, but also is rooted in the soil of Chinese philosophy, and is also influenced by the thinking of Western philosophy. The second part analyzes the main content of Feng Qi’s concept of freedom. His concept of freedom discusses freedom from the perspective of humanism, combining freedom with the subject of human beings, not only highlights the status of human beings, but also embodies his emphasis on practice and understanding of freedom.By exploring freedom in the field of value,he elaborated on the realms of truth, goodness, and beauty, communicating epistemology, ethics, and aesthetics. In the process of seeking truth, goodness, and beauty, people have also formed a free personality with the unity of truth, goodness, and beauty, which Feng Qi called a civilian free personality. At the same time, the process of achieving a civilian free personality is also the process of obtaining freedom. The third part discusses the relationship between his freedom view and wisdom theory. Its concept of freedom does not exist in isolation, but is closely related to wisdom, and is an important component of the wisdom theory. It occupies a core position in the philosophical system of the theory of wisdom and also enriches the philosophical system of the theory of wisdom. The fourth part is an evaluation of Feng Qi’s concept of freedom. We should not only attach importance to the rich spiritual value and impact on the development of modern society contained in his concept of freedom, but also correctly treat the theoretical limitations arising from the reasons of the times.
