Althusser’s overdetermination contradictory,which is the foundation of his philosophical system,is regarded as an important label for his thought and has had a profound influence on later Marxism studies.Inspired by Freud’s psychoanalysis,Mao Zedong’s formulation of the principal contradiction and the secondary contradiction On Contradiction,and Lenin’s idea of the "weakest link," Althusser realized that the Marxism dialectics could no longer be entangled with the Hegelian dialectic.In order to refute dogmatism,the "mechanical economic determinism" of the Second International and Humanitarian Marxism within the Communist Parties of Western Europe,Althusser used some original and borrowed terms to explain the specificity of the Marxism dialectic,to defend the real Marx through an innovative interpretation of the Marxism theory of contradiction,and to defend the authority of Marxism.This thesis examines the overdetermination contradictory in the following four parts.In the introductory part,through the literature review of similar topics at home and abroad,the purpose and significance of this thesis,the research methods and ideas,and the innovations and shortcomings of the thesis are clarified.In the first chapter,this article mainly starts from the background of the era when Althusser put forward the overdetermination contradictory,analyze the reasons and the course of his thinking to "defending Marx" and the theoretical sources of the idea.In the second chapter,the core content of Althusser’s overdetermination contradictory and Althusser’s explanation of the specificity of Marxism dialectics through theoretical practice theory are elaborated.In the third chapter,the theoretical essence of Althusser’s overdetermination contradictory is analyzed from the perspective of Marxism,and to explain the relationship between overdetermination and "in the last instance" decision,overdetermination and the negation of negation,analyze the guiding significance of the overdetermination contradictory to the future development and changes of the main contradictions of our society in the new era,and discuss in depth the limitations of Althusser in the process of theoretical construction,and strive to restore a more objective,comprehensive and clear image of Althusser.
