| Sun Yat-sen’s theory of knowledge and action,as the first part of his The General Plan of National Construction plays a decisive role in psychological construction. This article discusses the historical background, theoretical connotations, theoretical characteristics, and the significance of this theory from four aspects. The theory of knowledge and action is a summary of Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary experience and represents the characteristics of modernity that combines Chinese and Western cultures. On the one hand,he absorbed the developmental ideas of evolutionism and the emphasis on science in the West;on the other hand,he inherited the epistemology of ancient Chinese philosophy and combined it with his own revolutionary experience to construct a nonacademic theory of knowledge and action for the purpose of revolution. The theoretical core is the statement that "what is difficult to know is easy to do," which encourages revolutionary party members to boldly carry out revolutionary construction.Sun Yat-sen’s theory of knowledge and action combines the developmental ideas of evolutionism and expands them into the cognitive domain, social domain, and revolutionary subject domain, forming a stage-by-stage development. In the field of cognition, human cognition has three stages: "not knowing and doing","doing and then knowing",and "knowing and then doing".In the social field, social development is divided into three stages: the period of ignorance, civilization, and science. In the division of revolutionary subjects, people are divided into three categories: those who are foresighted, those who are later visionary, and those who are unaware.Sun Yat-sen’s theory of knowledge and action reflects the cross-border characteristics due to the internal and external troubles and conflicts between China and the West during the modern era.It not only rejects traditional thinking but also incorporates advanced Western thinking, while exhibiting certain historical limitations. |
