| Accelerated technological development is one of the characteristics of contemporary capitalist society,and in this context,the cultural industry has entered the era of cultural hyper-industry with digital development.The new forms of control of the culture industry have a more profound and insidious impact on human ways of thinking and living,posing a great challenge to human existence.In order to achieve an accurate judgment of social ills as well as the human existence situation,Stiegler rethinks the issue of culture industry.This paper,from the perspective of cultural philosophy,digs deeper,sorts out and analyzes the background,theoretical sources and basic contents of Stiegler’s thought on culture industry,explains the existential dilemma caused by culture industry and its transcendence path,and,based on this,discusses the meaning and limits of his thought.Stiegler absorbs the technological ideas of French philosophers of technology and anthropologists Gill,Leroy Goulain,and Simon Dong,and Husserl’s idea of memory,and critically inherits and deepens the Frankfurt School’s theory of culture industry,extending the coexistence of human and technology and the third holding to the reflection on culture industry,forming a unique idea of culture industry.Stiegler believes that technology is a "surrogate" for human beings,and he transforms technology as a mere tool for human beings into a driving force for human evolution.Based on the new technology of the third holdings,the experience of time can be preserved and repeated,and the third holdings are put into industrial operation,thus the culture industry is launched.The contemporary cultural industry is characterized by the hyper-temporalization of cultural technology,the temporal commodification of consciousness,and the standardization of consumption behavior.Starting from the theme of "consciousness is like a movie",which is the deep-rooted root of the control of consciousness by the cultural industry,we explain the direct motivation,inner mechanism,manifestation,and hidden control of consciousness by the cultural industry.He reveals the loss of individuality and the destruction of desires caused by the cultural industry,which is a phenomenon of cultural barrenness.Stiegler proposes a transcendental path of "cultural politics" to solve the cultural problems caused by the cultural industry,hoping that the contribution economy,amateurs,and sculptural behavior patterns will bring culture,technology,and people into a stable state of development.Stiegler’s idea of cultural industry is a contemporary continuation and expansion of the Frankfurt School’s theory of cultural industry.The analysis of the differences between Stiegler’s idea of cultural industry and the Frankfurt School reveals the unique meaning of his ideas and opens up new ideas for the study of cultural industry theory.Stiegler’s ideas on the cultural industry have profound theoretical and practical significance,but also have limitations,but in general provide us with certain reference values for our present and future views on the cultural industry. |
