According to the social adaptation model, the negative adaptation model will make it difficult for shy individuals to take good emotional regulation measures, thus producing more negative emotional experiences, and this process will further strengthen the shy reaction and withdrawal behavior of individuals.Previous studies have pointed out that the level of individual shyness is positively related to their negative emotional experience, and high level shyness individuals are more likely to take non adaptive measures in the process of emotion regulation. From a clinical point of view,"defense mechanism" is often considered as an important factor affecting the emotional health of individuals.Studies have pointed out that implicit emotion regulation has multiple similarities with "defense mechanism".Therefore,it is of great significance to explore the implicit emotion regulation of shy individuals in preventing the occurrence of mental health problems in this group,as well as the intervention and counseling of emotional problems. This paper mainly explores the implicit emotion regulation process of shy college students.Students with different levels of shyness were selected as subjects to discuss the relationship between two important psychological representations in the process of implicit emotion regulation-implicit attitude of emotion regulation and implicit emotion regulation goal in this process,so as to further understand the emotional response of shy individuals. This paper mainly includes two studies:In study 1,Revised Cheek and Buss Shyness Scale(RCBS)and Emotional Regulation version Implicit Association Test(ER-IAT)were used as research tools, with different levels of shyness as independent variables,ER-IAT task reaction time and D value as dependent variables, and a single factor inter subject experimental design was used to investigate the differences of implicit attitude toward emotion regulation of shyness college students at different levels. In study 2,CFAPS,IPANAT and idiom matching task paradigm were selected as research tools, with different implicit attitudes of emotion regulation of high-level shy college students, whether to activate emotion control goals as independent variables,IPANAT scores before, during and after the adaptation process as dependent variables, and a mixed experimental design of repeated measurements,To investigate the relationship between implicit attitude of emotion regulation and activation of implicit emotion regulation goals in high-level shy college students. The conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)From the perspective of implicit attitude of emotion regulation, college students with high level of shyness are more inclined to hold expressive implicit attitude of emotion regulation, while college students with low level of shyness are more inclined to hold controlled implicit attitude of emotion regulation;(2)From the perspective of implicit emotion regulation goals,in the group of college students with high shyness level, the subjects with emotion control goal priming have more obvious effects on implicit emotion regulation than those with neutral goal priming;(3)In the aspect of implicit negative emotion down-regulation,the interaction between implicit attitude of emotion regulation and goal priming of high-level shy college students is significant, and implicit attitudes of different emotion regulation play a role in promoting or inhibiting the activation of implicit emotion regulation goals. |
