The Tang Dynasty was a dynasty with extremely developed culture and art,and its concept of life and aesthetics were of great value in the history of Chinese thought.As a famous export porcelain of the Tang Dynasty,Changsha kiln mainly used underglaze painting and mold-printed applique as the main decorative style,and was rich and diverse in decorative techniques,incorporating sculpture,poetry,painting,calligraphy,dyeing and other decorative techniques.In the cultural atmosphere of the Tang Dynasty,the porcelain painting of the Changsha kilns showed the simple and straightforward porcelain painting content of the Tang people’s simple and poetic life aesthetics.The Changsha kiln emerged in the mid-to late-eighth century,with the An Shi Rebellion becoming a turning point in its development.Based on the improvements and innovations of ceramists from the north and south,the Changsha kiln entered its heyday in the mid-to late-Tang period with its distinctive underglaze decoration,and then declined in the Five Dynasties with the turbulence of history.The Changsha kiln did not survive for long and was discovered and excavated late,not being discovered until the1950 s by archaeologists investigating in Hunan Province.Despite its status as a folk kiln,the ceramic craftsmanship and decorative arts it represents have a significant place in the history of Chinese ceramics.With the in-depth study of Changsha kiln porcelain,the impression of porcelain in the Tang Dynasty has changed from the past “southern blue and northern white“ to“southern blue and northern white Changsha color“.The cultural development of the Tang Dynasty was diversified based on the strong political and economic confidence,and although it experienced a long period of war,the cultural foundation assembled during the Tang Dynasty was formed,providing a feasible path for the cultural development in the middle and later periods.Commercial culture,religious beliefs,and literati aesthetics together constitute the unique artistic characteristics of Changsha kiln porcelain painting.The artistic value of Changsha kiln porcelain lies not only in the groundbreaking development of its technology,but also in the aesthetic orientation and cultural connotation of its decoration.The poetry and paintings in the porcelain paintings of the Changsha kilns are important pictorial materials for the study of folk life and aesthetic concepts of the Tang Dynasty,reflecting from the side the view of life and literary understanding of the common people of the Tang Dynasty,and showing the dynamics and aesthetic expression of folk life in Tang Dynasty society.Changsha kiln porcelain painting is based on and feeds back into life,and its aesthetic concepts were deeply influenced by the commercial life,poetry and painting life,tea and wine life,and religious life of the time.The commercial inscriptions,lyrical verses and religious totems were a true reflection of the society of the time,reflecting the artisan’s infinite love for life and the living expression of the art of poetry and painting.Whether it is the advertising inscriptions that represent the atmosphere of the marketplace or the religious motifs that represent the worldly immortals,they are all aesthetic expressions of the current situation of Tang people’s life.The purpose of this study is to discover the artistic expression of the common people and their understanding of art in the Tang dynasty,and thus to analyze the concept of life and aesthetic psychology expressed in porcelain painting. |
