Study Of The Literary Words Of Qiu Shu Yuan Contained In Singapore’s Lat Pau

Qiu Shuyuan was a leading figure in Singapore’s literary circles in the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries.He lived in Singapore for more than 50 years.From 1919 to 1932,the Lat Pau published 150 of his poems and 96 essays,with rich and profound content,showing Qiu’s profound traditional literary heritage and unique creativity.On the basis of collating Qiu Shuyuan’s literary works published in Latbao,this paper attempts to analyze the ideological content of Qiu Shuyuan’s poetry and literary works in combination with the cultural environment at that time,his life experience and ideological changes,and realize his inheritance of the spirit of Chinese classical poetry.and its significance to the cultural development of Singapore.The introduction part of this thesis summarizes the academic research results on Qiu Shuyuan’s life story and poetry works.The main text first introduces Qiu’s cultural background,and sorts out his work as a newspaper editor and brief deeds of members of the poetry club.His poems and prose works have various themes,which can be divided into four categories: Buddhist Zen poems,write scenery and express poems,friendship poems and inscription poems.It shows the distinctive ideological characteristics of Confucianism and Buddhism and the artistic style of taking text as poetry.Secondly,there are many styles of Qiu Shuyuan’s prose,which can be strictly divided into 12 categories,which strictly abide by the style specifications.his ancient prose can achieve the combination of pianwen and prose forms and the extensive quotation of the inside.He inherited Yuan Mei’s soul theory and developed it.Poetic propositions embedded in prose can provide learning paths for Nanyang students.His novels advocate that they can keep pace with the times,and their achievements can be compared with Kang Liang.As a traditional old intellectual living in Nanyang,Qiu Shuyuan continued the values and way of life of the Chinese scholar-officials.Classical literature is the blood of his cultural life.He and Tanshe literati jointly promoted the inheritance and dissemination of classical literature in the era of the rise of new literature in Singapore.
