Tabriz is located in the northwest of Iran.It was built in the 3rd century BC.It was called "Taoli Temple" in ancient China. As the capital of East Azerbaijan Province in Iran,Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important cities in Iran.It is also the meeting point of East and West Transportation and North-South transportation to Iran and Russia through the Indian Ocean.Since the 13 th century, with the rise and fall of the Silk Road,Tabriz,as an important town along the Silk Road, has experienced tortuous development. At the end of the 18 th century, with the beginning of the Qajar of Iran, there were some changes in the urban development of Tabriz.Starting with the urban development of Tabriz in the 19 th century, this paper analyzes the performance, causes and influence of the urban development of Tabriz in this period. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduces the general situation of Tabriz. This paper summarizes the history of Tabriz before the 19 th century by stages, and makes a general introduction to the city in combination with its physical geography and social situation. The second chapter expounds the performance of Tabriz urban development in the 19 th century. This paper explains the population growth, the development of urban construction facilities and the expansion of urban functions in Tabriz during this period. This paper introduces the most representative Bazaar,Mosque and other important and representative urban facilities in Tabriz, such as bathroom and square. The third chapter discusses the reasons for the urban development of Tabriz in the 19 th century. From the perspective of natural geographical location,Tabriz has become an important transportation hub of Iran’s commercial trade in the 19 th century and a "window" for Iran to contact the West with its special geographical advantages. Therefore, the city has developed to a certain extent. From the perspective of social history,as the city where the crown prince of the Qajar lived,Tabriz began the reform of learning from the west very early. In addition, the progress of Tabriz’s own productivity has also promoted the development of the city. The fourth chapter analyzes the influence of Tabriz urban development in the 19 th century. This paper discusses the positive impact of urban development and the problems in the process of development.Firstly,it shows that the urban development of Tabriz has driven the prosperity of the urban economy, and then improved the status of the city. The economic prosperity has attracted many foreign people to settle here, which not only increases the labor force, but also improves the diversity of the urban population. However, while the city is developing, there are also some problems, such as the weak foundation of urban heavy industry caused by unbalanced development and the deterioration of farmers’ living conditions caused by the change of production mode.In addition, the advantages embodied in the development of the city have also caused more fierce competition among Western powers and exacerbated the instability of the domestic political situation.
