Guo Ziyi And The Relationship Of Tang-bo

The relationship of Tang-bo is an important part of the foreign relations of the Tang Dynasty.Through long-term frequent political,economic and cultural exchanges,Tang and Tubo have established good neighborly and friendly bilateral relations,but at the same time,they are also accompanied by certain conflicts.After the An-shi rebellion in the Tang Dynasty,the national strength declined,while the national strength of Tubo showed an upward trend,which brought changes to the relationship between the two sides.After pacifying the An-shi rebellion,the invasion of Tubo became an urgent problem to be faced by the Tang Dynasty.After pacifying the civil strife,Guo Ziyi turned into defense against foreign aggression and began to actively participate in the exchanges between Tang and Tubo.During the Su and Dai dynasties,Guo Ziyi participated in dealing with the affairs between Tang and Tubo for many times.Especially in the emperor Daizong period of Tang Dynasty,there were conflicts between Tang and Tubo from time to time,and Guo Ziyi participated in almost all the affairs between Tang and Tubo at this stage.For example,in the first year of Guangde(763),the Tubo army entered Chang’an and Guo Ziyi recovered the capital;In the second year of Guangde(764)and the first year of Yongtai(765),Guo Ziyi twice repulsed the invasion of the Tubo coalition army led by Pu Gu Huaien;After the fourth year of Dali(769),Guo Ziyi was ordered to guard Binzhou and other places in the northwest of the capital and prepare to defend Tubo.In Tang-bo exchanges,he deeply realized that there was a certain gap in strength between the two sides.Although he was a military general,he dealt Tubo affairs in a more moderate way,hoping to reduce military conflicts between Tang and Tubo.In the face of the invasion of Tubo,he focused his attention on defense,skillfully used strategies and tactics,and maintained the stability of the Tang Dynasty at a lower cost.At the time of the domestic trouble and foreign invasion in the Tang Dynasty,Guo Ziyi,with her outstanding military talent,created a stable political environment for the development of the Tang Dynasty,made important contributions to the development of Tang-bo relationship and the stability of the frontier,and promoted the national exchange and integration between Tang and Tubo.
