Beauty,Sublime,Taste:The Research Of Edmund Burke’s Aesthetics Keywords | | Posted on:2023-04-26 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:J Men | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2555306908951079 | Subject:Aesthetics | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Edmund Burke,as a representative figure of eighteenth-century british empiricist aesthetics,his book "A Philosophical Enquiry into The Origin of Our Ideas of The Sublime and Beautiful"(hereinafter referred to as "Discussion")plays a pivotal role in the history of aesthetic thought.In the book,Burke pioneered the distinction between "Beauty" and "Sublime",and insisted on the principle of thorough empiricism,combined with physiological and psychological factors to analyze the root of the sense of beauty and sublime.Based on a careful reading of Burke’s text,this paper reconstructs Burke’s aesthetic ideological system through the systematic interpretation of the three key words of "Beauty","Sublime" and "Taste" of his aesthetic ideological system,and discovers the historical status of Burke’s aesthetic thought and its contemporary value.In this paper,the theoretical composition and ideological logic of Burke’s aesthetics are analyzed through the method of keyword research.The first chapter is mainly from the theoretical basis of Burke’s aesthetics and the core content of Burke’s aesthetics,providing a basic exposition for the following detailed analysis of Burke’s aesthetic ideas.The second chapter mainly analyzes the beauty produced under social emotions from the division of human basic emotions and the formal characteristics of aesthetic objects produced by aesthetic sensations.The third chapter expounds Burke’s theory of the sublime in terms of the origins of Burke’s "Sublime" theory,as well as the sense of fear and the characteristics of "Sublime" things.The fourth chapter mainly explains mainly explains the uniform principles of burke’s aesthetic taste standards from the changes of "taste" and its contrast to Hume,and further clarify the inherent connection of beauty,sublime and taste.the influence of Burke on Kant aesthetics and the advancement of the development of aesthetic history,it highlights the value of ideological history of Burke aesthetics.Based on the interpretation of Burke related texts,this article analyzes the ideological origin,theoretical structure and core concepts of its aesthetics in order to promote the academic level and theoretical depth of the academic research on Burke’s aesthetic research. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Edmund Burke, Feeling, Beauty, Sublime, Taste | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
