Mi Fu was a great master in the history of Chinese calligraphy,and played an important role in promoting the style of calligraphy advocating artistic taste in the Song Dynasty.Calligraphy has been a fashion since the Song Dynasty,and Mi Fu is certainly the founder of this fashion.The world knows that Mi Fu is a “Collection of ancient characters”,turn more teachers and deep foundation of calligraphy,especially on the semi-cursive script.Calligraphy learning is to carry on the innovation on the inheritance of the ancients,in which the inheritance has played a crucial role,no inheritance,how to innovate? Mi Fu’s transformation from Tang Dynasty to Jin Dynasty has provided us with an important direction and method in calligraphy study,so whether we study Mi Fu or other calligraphers,we must do our homework to understand their learning process,it is against the law of the development of things to study and create their individual works.This paper focuses on Mi Fu’s approach to calligraphy,which is roughly divided into two stages: first,from Mi Fu’s mentor Rojan to the most influential Yan Zhenqing,Ouyang Xun,Shen Chuanshi,Duan Jizhan and Chu Suiliang,then to Li Yong,Emperor Taizong of Tang and Song Dynasty Zhou Yue,Su Shunqin,as well as the integration of Mi Fu and Song,Yang Ning style of the five dynasties,which is the first phase of his calligraphy.Second,since Su Shi,began to study Jin people,tracing Wang Xizhi,Wang Xianzhi,Yang Xin and others,is the second stage.On the basis of historical records,this paper compares and analyzes Mi Fu’s works with other calligraphers,constructs Mi Fu’s course of learning Xingshu,and highlights his new learning methods,which set off a new wave of calligraphy learning in later ages.
