As we all know,vocabulary is the foundation of English learning,and the mastery of English vocabulary determines the understanding and application of English language.However,in terms of vocabulary learning,junior high school students have problems such as difficulty in vocabulary memory,fast forgetting,and low efficiency.Based on Knowledge Visualization Theory,Schema Theory and Constructivism Theory,this paper mainly discusses the use of mind map in junior high school English vocabulary teaching.This paper selects two parallel classes with similar grades in the first grade of a private middle school in Xi’an as the experimental object.The author randomly selected class 1 as the experimental class and class 2 as the control class for a four-month experiment.In the early stage of the experiment,the author conducted a questionnaire and pre-test to understand the students’ interest and level of vocabulary learning;in the process of the experiment,six dictations were used to judge whether the mind map can promote the acquisition of students’ target vocabulary;in the later stage of the experiment,the author conducted a questionnaire survey and post-test to verify whether the mind map can stimulate students’ interest in learning and improve their vocabulary level.The research results are as follows:First,from the results of the questionnaire survey and interview,the students in the experimental class have greatly improved their interest in learning English vocabulary,and the students pay more attention to the development and use of self-learning strategies;The students’dictation scores have improved significantly,but the control class’s dictation scores have not improved significantly,which shows that the application of mind map teaching method in junior high school English vocabulary teaching can improve students’ vocabulary memory and spelling accuracy;Finally,through the pre-test and post-test,it is found that the scores of the control class were significantly lower than that of the experimental class,which indicated that the application of mind map in English vocabulary teaching in junior high school could increase students’ vocabulary and improve students’ English vocabulary level.Therefore,this paper believes that mind map has a positive impact on junior high school English vocabulary teaching,and provides teaching suggestions for English teachers,hoping to provide inspiration for future theoretical and practical research on junior high school English vocabulary teaching. |
