A Study Of The Musical Characteristics And Performance Techniques Of Nicolas Karlovich Medtner Reminiscences Piano Sonata

When Russian composers are mentioned,Tchaikovsky,Stravinsky,Mussorgsky and so on are usually mentioned.However,at the beginning of the twentieth century,the name Nicolas Karlovich Medtner was well known in Russia as the"Russian Brahms",indicating that his creative talent was still recognized.Medtner mainly composed piano music,and the piano sonatas were his main works.This article discusses the first piano sonata "Reminiscences" from the first set OP.38 "Forgotten Melodies",which is also the opening piece of "Forgotten Melodies"He transformed the inspirations arising from various memories into musical ideas and composed three piano suites named after "Forgotten Melodies",OP.38,OP.39 and OP.40.This paper analyzes this work from the two main aspects of musical characteristics and playing skills,so as to combine the theory and practice of the performer and finally internalize the work in the heart.
