As an instant record of Chinese society and emotions,"overseas student literature" in the 1990 s reflected the cultural atmosphere of a specific period, linked the emotional journey of a generation, and witnessed the dreams and hesitations of a generation of young people in the process of globalization. The era retains the most lively materials. If only the "student literature" of the 1990 s was regarded as a product of popular culture,it would undoubtedly be oversimplified. This article attempts to follow the complicated discourse mechanism and historical situation of China in the1990 s,by exploring the causes and aesthetic characteristics of "overseas student literature" and its exotic writing in the 1990 s,re-examining the entangled and ambiguous allegorical elements in the novel, grasping and understanding The zeitgeist symptoms presented by the text.Apart from the introduction and the remainder, the main part of the thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter starts from the changes of society and literature, and explores the origin of "overseas student literature" and its exotic writing in the 1990 s.Specifically, the support of national policies, the cultural hegemony formed by the market and the media jointly participate in the creation and popularization of the "dream of going abroad";the collective tendency of writers to write when they go abroad,as well as the mixing and dislocation of Chinese and Western views on love, and It stimulates and seduces novelists to take love as their idea object, and constantly refresh and stretch their creative territory. The second chapter seeks to deduce from the two paths of nationality and gender, and explains the allegorical elements of the writing of exotic love.In the form of symbolic games, these novels use the racial gendered rhetoric of "Chinese women/European and American men" and the "deprecating" rhetoric that likes to stigmatize and distort Chinese men to refer to the vague and secretive rhetoric of the1990 s.National Situation and Gender Allegory.Behind this writing strategy, not only stands the embarrassing historical situation of China in the 1990 s,but also highlights the predicament of women’s writing. The third chapter takes "consumption" and "globalization" as a reference, and explores the mental symptoms exposed by the writing of exotic love. These novels store the obvious features of autobiography,non-fiction,and rhetoric of desires and taboos, and by virtue of which they form alliances with commerce and consumption. In addition, from the perspective of "wanderers",the novel presents the spectacle of division in the 1990 s that individuals both yearned for and rejected the "West",providing spiritual resources for reflecting on the political and cultural logic of nationalism. The fourth chapter explores the source of the writer’s subject from the perspective of "identity" and "memory".Studying abroad is a foreshadowing stage for novelists to write and practice, and the cultural identity of "TCA" gives them unique cultural advantages;in addition, the memory of the country and the city intertwined, the solemn and passionate youth Time not only condenses into narrative resources for exotic writing, but also potentially regulates the continuous writing of novelists.
