Interweaving Of Times And Historiography:A Study On Chen Pan’s Historical Thoughts

At the beginning of the 20 th century,with the intensification of the ruling crisis of the Qing government and the introduction of the western advanced historical concept represented by the theory of evolution into China,the voice of saving the nation and strengthening the country continued to rise,the traditional historiography gradually declined,and China’s study of classics and history entered a turning period.Chinese scholars represented by Kang Youwei began to look at the traditional classics with a new perspective,advocated taking it as a kind of historical materials,and using western scientific research methods and new unearthed materials to govern history,which promoted the emergence of new historiography.Chen Pan is a historian who appeared in the period of changes in the relationship between classics and history and the emergence of modern historiography.Chen Pan studied with Gu Jiegang and Fu Sinian in school.After graduation,he was extended to The Institute Of Historical And Philology.He was deeply influenced by the thought of doubting ancient times,which aroused his interest in identifying the three biographies of spring and autumn.He first clarified the origin of the development of the three biographies,combed the context of their development and evolution,then examined and identified the three biographies,summarized the principles and methods of clarifying the examples,related historical fields.Under the guidance of Fu Sinian,Chen Pan combed the study of divination in detail for the first time from the perspective of academic history,explored the source and inheritance of divination,analyzed the important issues such as the mutual words of prophecy,and discussed the influence of prophecy on politics,society and science at that time,laying the foundation for the later study of prophecy.In addition,Chen Pan has deep attainments in the study of history and geography in the two weeks and the study of bamboo slips in the Han and Jin Dynasties.He is also a typical representative figure in the early stage of the study of bamboo slips in Taiwa.Chen Pan attaches importance to the collection and sorting of historical materials,is good at using newly unearthed materials,adheres to the belief of "truth-seeking" and "objectivity",and connects a large number of documents.He has important research achievements in the fields of history and archaeology.He promotes the creation and foundation,develops the information that has not been found by predecessors,and provides rich and reliable materials for historical research.
