A Translation Report On International Student Raining Programs Of H University (Excerpt) From The Perspective Of Translation Shift Theory

The goal and mission of graduate education are to cultivate inventive high-level talents.The graduate student training program is the programmatic document for implementing training requirements and teaching activities.It serves as the foundation for talent development and quality assessment.Training methods and procedures,curriculum and requirements,thesis and degree awarding are included in the student training programs.At the same time,it can serve as both an internal and external enrollment tool.The translation of student training programs helps to attract more international students to universities and boost Chinese higher education’s global influence.Its role cannot be neglected in the globalization of higher education.Based on the translation practice project of H University,this report studies the guiding role of the Translation Shift Theory in C-E translation.There are many technical terms,verb phrases,and simple clauses in the source text which are imbued with succinct and objective expressions.Besides,the sentences and paragraphs are relatively independent.When translating,the translator must pay close attention to the content’s accuracy.Meanwhile,she must ensure that the target text follows the convention of the target language because the target readers are primarily international students.The translator compares differences between Chinese and English under the guidance of the Translation Shift Theory and demonstrates how to improve translation quality in C-E translation by utilizing various types of translation shifts.Finally,the translator calls for greater attention to be paid to student training programs translation and hopes that this report can serve as parallel text for the translation of similar text types,as well as assist the internationalization of China’s higher education.
